Murder at Blood Mansion: An intense murder mystery card game
Created by Braden Barty Media
Blood Mansion is a murder mystery card game for 2-6 players. It's set in 1899 England and Lady Blood has invited a few of her friends over where, of course, a murder takes place. It's your job to solve the crime unless YOU are the killer, then it's your job to escape. 76 Tarot sized cards, 9 wooden character tokens come in the box. Art by Parker Jacobs. Game designed by Braden Barty

"2 PLAYER" ( 1 V 1) RULES ARE HERE! RULES 3.0 -
about 6 years ago

Dear Backer,
I'm pleased to announce we have finally decided on 1 V 1 game rules for Murder at Blood Mansion.
First I want to thank those that submitted 2 player rules. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into it! Unfortunately, we were unable to find a good fit that we felt kept with the spirit of the game.
So, I went back to the drawing board and put my thinking cap on an came up with something:
What bothered me more than anything about the rules with a 2 player game was that there were only 2 possible suspects. Not really a great crime story. So I flipped the script. Instead of 2 possible suspects, ALL the characters of MABM are the suspect.
I made a long and boring video on my iphone that you can watch here that explains the setup.
You can also download a PDF of the MABM 2 PLAYER RULES and print it out so you can put them inside your MABM game box for safe keeping.
DON'T FORGET the other new rules too. 1. Lady Blood's Scheme upgrade and 2. Scheme Reset rule. All on that rule page.
As always, let me know if you have any questions regarding the "2 Player Rules" and let me know how it goes!

Who is going to Gen2018? AND CONTESTS
– Mon, Jul 30, 2018 at 06:47:06 PM
Hey Backers,
So, who is going to GenCon 2018?????
Unfortunately one of my longest and favorite clients are coming to L.A. for UFC 227 and I'm stuck here all week. Whaaaa!!!
On a positive note, 2 major toy/game retailers have requested to get a copy of the game for play testing (games sent). Yeah, not an easy task considering how many hundreds, thousands, millions of games pop up on Kickstarter every year. So, Hopefully we get some interest with one of these companies and hear back from them soon.
GenCon Photo Post Contest
Chime in and let me know who's going to to be at GenCon. I know there's lots going on but maybe some of our awesome backers could organize a Murder at Blood Mansion game in their Hotel or at the Convention hall and take some photos. Then tag us and hashtag us #murderatbloodmansion on Instagram and Facebook. The fan with the best photo from GenCon will win.........this autogprahed Deluxe version of the game. (the one that's in my hand)
How does that sound? Who's in?
1v1 CONTEST
Everyone knows that MABM can be played with just 2 people but it's just not that fun. I know there are a few games out there that have special 1v1 rules to enhance the fun. So we're running this contest!
If you come up with a 1v1 player rules and they are good enough to be included in our rule book 2.0. Consider yourself rad, AND you will win a $100 gift certificate for Amazon.com!
Send your suggestions to me at [email protected] and I'll check them all out.
- Can't wait to hear and see your feedback!!!

2 RULE MODIFICATIONS!

Hello Backer!
How is the delivery process going? If you have still not received your game, I would like to know. Send me an email at [email protected] and let's see what's going on.
LOVE all the feedback and comments we've been getting. We are always looking for places to improve where it is needed. Thank you so much, backers!
Based on some feedback we felt it necessary to make 2 slight rule changes and RULES 2.0 is up on the website. Here they are:
1. Lady Blood's Scheme now allows her to steal 2 Suspect Cards instead of just 1. This balances her scheme against Stella's
2. After all Schemes have been played by each player, all Schemes get reset and can be played again. This helps speed up "run on" games. Hey, Sometimes it happens. You've gone through the deck once or twice all you're doing is waiting for the right Action card to win the game. So, with this rule we hope to speed things up should this occur.
And once again, we are on Amazon.com for anyone who would like to purchase additional games or prevent friends from stealing theirs.
-Thank you,
-Braden Barty (the creator)
PS Game Clarifications
#5. Is this game a cooperative team game? Us vs the killer? No. this is every player for themselves. Only 1 winner and everyone else loses.
Games arriving/Now on Amazon/Rule clarification

Most tabletop games are like the American toaster, you push a button and the same thing pops up everytime. But fortunately for us, based on your feedback, Murder at Blood Mansion is the exception. That is, for all 901 backers we shipped the game out to. So, we thank you for your feedback.
I know the games are arriving in most of the States, the UK, Australia, and most parts of Europe. I’m sure there are plenty far away places that might still be waiting. Please be patient as they are on their way, I assure you.
Now on to matters of colourful business.
First off yes, starting a few days ago, Amazon began selling the game, and as expected they went very quickly, thanks to your willingness in playing with friends who then went online to snatch up a game or two for themselves. So, more will be on their way to the Amazon store soon. I know that it is frustrating, keeping a valuable commodity on the shelves, but oh well.
Reviews: Reviews are good. They increase demand, and demand could mean that the creators could actually begin profiting from all this hard work. So, reviews are welcome on both Amazon and yes, Boardgamegeek. Something I must stress is the Boardgamegeek rating system.
Anything below a 7 pretty much means the game is useless and better suited as a door stop.
7= "Good, usually willing to play". (usually? Usually is defined as “under normal conditions; generally.” Therefore, I usually eat out for dinner, I usually wash my hands after using the toilet, and so on. So, what good does “usually” even do?
8=”Very good, enjoy playing and would suggest it.” Now honestly, who would NOT suggest such a delightful game to their friends or loved ones?
9= “Excellent, very much enjoy playing” Isn’t this the same thing as 8 minus the “would suggest it”. Can some things be very good just not excellent? To me, 9 is rather confusing but go ahead, give it a 9 just as long as you're still willing to suggest it.
10 = "Outstanding, will always enjoy playing” This is my favourite, I mean honestly, will there be a time when one does not enjoy a good walk in the park or a good meal to digest? Don’t be shy, no game is perfect, and, in my opinion, most games you enjoy playing should deserve a 10. It should be that simple.
Rules: Yes, as expected, some of you had questions regarding the rules. The creators can’t think of everything. After all, one is a filmmaker and the other an artist. They can't possibly be that intelligent, right? So here are some things that might help you understand some of the rules a little better.
1. When you discard a card in the discard pile, do you discard it face down or up?
Answer: Always discard face up. All cards in the discard pile are public domain.
2. Can you discard and Action card without playing it?
Answer: Only when its dead weight. If the first card you discard is an action card, the action must be played.
3. Can you use a Slam! the door card against a Scheme?
Answer: Absolutely not. Like, no way.
4. How many action cards can you play during your turn? Just one. Not 2. Not 3. Not even 10. Just 1 action card can be played per turn. If you have already drawn a card and/or played an action card and still have more than 5 cards in your hand, you must discard enough cards in your hand so you finish your turn with 5. Those cards you discarded are called DEAD WEIGHT and the actions are NOT playable.
Anyway, if any of you are still confused about anything, please do not hesitate to bother Braden and send him a email with your inquiry by either posting on the Kickstarter comment page or emailing him.
If a part of your game has arrived with any sort of defect, no need to post on the comment page. The general public does not care that your pet snake went missing in the house for 48 hours and we don’t really care that your Lady Blood Token arrived with a print smudge on it, but BRADEN does care deeply and will remedy up a solution right away, so please bother him and not us. Once again, his email is [email protected]. He's got all the answers.
2 Player Games: Let us be honest, 2 players has never been the best way to play this game. It's not my favourite. We stress 3-6 player games. And if anyone has any suggestions for alternate 2 player game rules, please chime in. We would love to hear your sugestions.
Social Media And lastly, take pictures of you and your friends playing the game and share with us using #murderatbloodmansion or tagging us on Instagram @Murderatbloodmanson
So, that is all for now. Who knows when I will need to bother you again, right? Thank you again, dear backer, for all your support and patience during this entire process, we at the Blood Mansion are extremely happy that this phase is coming to a close. Now onto conventions, contest and so on and so on. We will continue to keep you posted.
Cheers to you, my dear backer,
Sincerely, Lucious, caretaker of this dreaded mansion.
